Are you tired of applying for every job position but not getting calls from any company? if that's the case then you are at the right place. if your resume is getting rejected every time then maybe
You are sending the same generic resume to every job application. sadly you can't send the same generic resume because competition is tough
Your Resume is not ATS proof
You are blinding applying without considering job description key skills
WTF is ATS?
ATS is an applicant tracking system. big large or mid-size organization receive 1000+ resumes every week and filtering resumes from 1000+ resume is challenging work for the HR department. to overcome this problem, they use ATS. so, what ATS does is scan your resume and send your job qualification percentage. job qualification percentage means job seeker is a good fit for the job or not.
Scanning Job Descriptions and finding key skills and keywords
Now, all you have to do is scan the job description and find key skills. Remember these key skills should be demonstrated in your resume. ATS will find keywords and will use some algorithms to find out job qualification percentages. from the job description I found these key skills and keywords - user interface components, Flux or Redux, reusable components, libraries, Optimizing components for maximum performance, JavaScript, DOM manipulation, object model data structure, isomorphic React, RESTful APIs, authorization mechanisms, jsonwebtoken, optimization, code versioning tools, Git, SVN. if you have a hard time finding keywords from the job description. don't worry you can go to the last section.
Describing organization details and Writing optimized Job title (Optional)
This is optional because describing organization details take some space on your resume. whenever you write details organization always includes funding, revenue, team size, and clients. so, let's say you are working in XYZ inc which is a product-based startup with 2 million revenue and also got funding from investors. so you will write something like this way
Structure of Resume if you are a student and you have done an internship. don't write like this way
instead of this write like this way
Or
Describing work experience or Internships
This is a really important section if you have experience or you did any internships. always keep this thing in your mind that never describe your full work history only and only describe work that actually benefited the organization with results and also include the result of your specific work. let's see an example
let's see first bad examples
See the above image is it showing any exceptional things you did in the organization? companies want people who can solve the problems and can make an impact.
See the above image, this is how you should write your work history. describe your work with details and also the result. if you see carefully the above image you will also find that I used keywords that we found in the job description. if you see properly I also added results in percentages.
So, just add relevant experience, add keywords and key skills, describe what you did, how you did, and what was the result. that's all
Project Section
In the project section, add only projects which add value to your resume or you did something amazing. only put 2 or 3 quality projects don't list out every project. it's fine to put group project but describe what was your role and how it impacted your team but don't describe like below image
Write your responsibility, what you did, how you did and what was the impact on the project same thing which we did in the experience section. add some links where the recruiter or HR can see your project. you can also put a youtube link to your project it will increase your authenticity. you can see the below image I added some links and also described my work with keywords
Skill
In the skill section, add only relevant skills don't add any random skills. let's say you are applying for a mechanical job. in your mechanical resume, there is no need to add "game development" in the skill section. it's good that you know game development but you are applying for a mechanical engineer job
in each every skill write also proficiency with brackets. an example is given below
I prefer the second way. also, you can do a simple search on google that what software organization is using. let's say if you are applying for XYZ inc just search in google "software XYZ inc use" go through some youtube tutorials and add that software in the skill section with "beginner" or "familiar"
Using Free ATS Software to Find The Rating of Your Resume
There are so many free ats software available on the internet I use https://www.jobscan.co/. upload your resume and paste a job description and you will find your rating. feel free to use any other free ats software
As you can see match rate is 35% and it is not a good rating from my perspective if you are getting ≥ 60% then it is a good rating. this portal gives all tips to optimize your resume. if you go to the bottom of the page you will find a section where all keywords shown
From the above image, you can see that all keywords. now, if your rating is low then optimize and re-upload until you are not getting a good rating. that's all
Tips
In the education section, if you have a good GPA or score then write it otherwise there is no need
If you have work experience put that section first because nowadays most companies care about your experience
If you got any internal promotions don't forget to highlight that
There is no need for writing marital status, father name, mother name, places which you traveled
If you won any hackathons or you won prizes in your field don't forget to highlight those things
If you are writing blogs or you are Youtuber don't forget to mention those things. it shows that how much you are passionate
If you like my blog Don't forget to clap, comment, and follow.feel free to comment
